Thanks for the comments guys. My uncle recently bequeathed his record collection to me, so I spun Fragile in its entirety and was surprised that this jam that I had totally forgotten about was sort of my favorite moment on the album.
man, you have totally discovered their trick! I heard this yes album when i was really little then i discovered it again in 1998 when buffalo 66 came out! Then when i first heard animal collective, i was floored ;)
Wow! It'd be really interesting to know whether Noah Lennox et al. had listened to any of this before Animal Collective took off; its almost like a synthesis of their latest drum-driven songs with the more acoustic guitar of Sung Tongs...
