Mike Bloomfield and Al Kooper: Stop
This one goes out to the Strand Bookstore, where I recently unloaded a ton of books, and where the helpful fellow there asked me, a propos of the cover of a book I was selling, whether or not I knew Bloomfield and Kooper's work. I know OF Bloomfield and Kooper, I replied hesitatingly. And then he went off on a great disquisition which inspired me to dig further. And that brings us to this moment.
The photo is of Bloomfield, yes; Kooper, quite right; but the third musketeer? All I can say is that these three must have raised some serious hell up at the Red Lion in Stockbridge.

ReplyDeleteYep...that's Norman Rockwell. He painted a portrait of the two for the cover of "The Live Adventures of Mike Bloomfield and Al Kooper". Great album cover.
