Silent Corner - Number One
Standing on a corner on a Saturday night
I’ve got nothing to do but stay at home
Won’t you join me, join me for the Number One
All the best chicks in town are there
The groovy ones, the special ones
They are going, going to the Number One
Where it’s all happening on a Saturday night
The music is heaven, the lights are dimmed
It’s new wave it’s new style, just go and find
The place you’ve been looking for, the Number One
First time you will ever hear of us
In a disco bar in our hometown
Cause they’re playing music you love to hear
You can always find us at Friday night
Silent Corner at a new event
They are going, going to the Number One

This track comes courtesy of mein bruder. Many high school evenings spent in Tolkien's pages and then the fortune to find a soundtrack for his escape.

Brent Mydland: Dreams
Poking around the internet is really something. A track from what I gather was to be Mydland's solo album.

Affairs Of The Heart - Waterloo Sunset
So apparently I've entered my Hi-NRG phase. We all knew this day would come eventually.
The way the vocalist (some say it's one of the girls from Strawberry Switchblade?!) sings "Friday night" at 2:56 is making me think there could be/should be/is an equally great Italodance cover of Captain Jack out there, somewhere.
Apologies to Sheridan for stepping on his post. It's 17 degrees outside and I feel like I'm losing my mind.

Quicksilver Messenger Service: Who Do You Love [suite]
Apropos of St Valentine's Day, herewith side one of 1969's Happy Trails. The best way to listen to this is to call in sick to work on a cold day, really crank it up, and pretend you are playing cowboys and indians with Bob Weir somewhere in the hills of Novato.
Unless you're Bob Weir, of course. Actually, especially if you're Bob Weir.

Neil Young - Flying On The Ground Is Wrong (demo)
I've listened to versions of this by The Guess Who, The Buffalo Springfield, The Summer Snow, The Sneetches, The Rainy Day, and The Cascades, but I don't feel like any of them quite reaches the Platonic ideal of the song, so let's go with Neil's demo, as there's always something unimpeachable about the songwriter's original conception. Also: what is this song about?
