I had never heard this song before...nor am I a particular Grateful Dead fan.
However...this song is fantastic...and a perfect reminder why the GD have such a following.
PROPS!

Very nice version, Mike. Took me two attempts to get this one, but it's worth it. The "Dick's Picks" collections keep on growing on me, but there's so much archived material in the series it's always kind of hard to know where to start.

It's a little bit obvious, i know, but for me the essence of the Grateful Dead lies at the charred core of "Dark Star" - i don't think i've heard a tiresome version yet.

Thanks for the comments. Peggy-O's been a favorite of mine, and I find this version especially touching... Nice to see you around ib. I think the best way to navigate to Dick's Picks series is to look for shows issued from specific periods, and go from there. I'm a big fan of the series, though since it has become so easy to track down shows online, in lossless format, I have to admit that I haven't bought a Dick's Pick in a few years.

It was a beautiful song then (http://take-a-picture-it-will-last-longer.blogspot.com/search?q=englishtown), as it is hearing here 30 years later.

Great pick.

I totally effed that last comment up.
This is the link that I meant to leave.

And, funny thing is — I was just talking to another Jersey boy on the boat the other day — talking about how the 1977 Dead may have been the best Dead ever.

But, that's just one head's opinion.

Thanks for posting that mushi... I like you site and dig that memory of the Dead from '77. I've spent some time this afternoon looking at old stubs on that site you linked to. I see a lot of familiar ones.

Great pic.
