Palmer took a plunge to find the wonderful Riptide, which was composed by the songwriting team of Walter Donaldson and Gus Kahn. I Didn't Mean To Turn You On was composed by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis.
I suggest listening to I Didn't Mean To Turn You On immediately after Riptide ends. Riptide makes a nice intro to the light funk of I Didn't Mean To Turn You On.

Glad you enjoyed these songs (and casey too). Robert Palmer; the most modest of rock stars; always willing to share the screen with four well-endowed women, or at least that is the way I will always remember him from my childhood. I was just glad to discover he had better songs than Addicted To Love.
Interesting postscipt, possibly, Mike: Before he became plain old Robert Palmer, did you ever see him in action in his previous incarnation as one part of Vinegar Joe, alongside Elkie Brooks ?

Loving this! The glossy and spacious sound of 1985. BTW, I Didn't Mean To Turn You On is a cover of a dance track originally done in 1984 by one "Cherelle". Moreover, "Riptide" was also a Simon & Simon-esque TV show about 2 detectives on a boat, and a robot.
