I suppose you think, given my Francoise Hardy proclivities, that I downloaded this simply because it was recorded by an attractive French woman in 1971?
Er.....I did.
And then I realised it was the song I'd heard all through my childhood as sung by, probably, Kiki Dee (YIKES!).
Mais evidement, c'est superb - et je vous remercie x
Very cool, Davy. I'm glad you got the Kiki Dee connection -- I didn't mention it in the post so that it would be a surprise for those who remember Kiki's version. I first heard this song about a year ago as recorded by Shirley Bassey, except the title was "Emotion", with English lyrics. Shirley's version is itself a cover of Helen Reddy's version. Kiki Dee's version is entitled "Amoureuse" but has English lyrics, different from the English lyrics of "Emotion". And Veronique's original is in French, of course. Although Veronique apparently also did an English version which is now an expensive rare record.
So there's the tangled history of that song. And yes, Veronique is a fox. She was married to Stephen Stills from '73 to '76...
Hey anon, I've never heard Veronique's English version so I couldn't tell you about the lyrics. I'd like to hear it, though! It's going for $216 on GEMM:
hello, just found out about this page by accident really... the version sang by Véronique is the same as Kiki Dee's (an english translation of original lyrics by Gary Osborne). She actually recorded this track in english, german, spanish and italian!

So there's one more question...
Which lyrics did Veronique sang in her english version? Emotion or the Kiki Dee or just a 3rd version?

I also just spotted a German version by Veronique, also for sale on GEMM, so really this appears to be a bottomless well...
