I grabbed this out of the "O" section at the record shop the other day while I was searching (unsuccessfully) for The Outlaws on vinyl.

The exuberant pop of 1978's "Another Girl, Another Planet" was something unequalled in Peter Perrett's later output in the Only Ones, but listening to this again you can clearly hear the shared influence of Tom Verlaine's "Television" and the same determination to spiral on a tangent which was so much a cornerstone of Perrett's obsessiveness.
Where would Mike Scott's "Waterboys" have been without the "Only Ones" ?
