Chuck Mangione: Feels So Good

This one and the theme from "Taxi" are kind of the Romulus and Remus of a sound which, for this writer, powerfully evokes the aura of late '70s New York, especially in autumn. Since the album version of this is ten minutes and the single edit wasn't my thing, I've adopted the DIY ethos of the Smooth Jazz Movement and made my own edit.

Buy the CD for the full-length version.

I'm not really familiar with Chuck Magione, Emmett, but i totally empathise with the Bob James led nostalgia...

"Taxi" is one of the most evocative triggers of disparate - but fundamentally the same, i imagine - memories from the 70s (alongside "MASH"; "Rhoda" & "The Odd Couple") precisely because we were spoonfed the same syndicated shows here in the U.K..

If you asked my son to draw you a picture of a cab, it would be more likely to be yellow and checkered than a black Hackney. The first bars of "Angela" always has me reaching for an illusionary bagel or nickel off the sidewalk.

The reality was hot buttered toast and a Nestlé milkshake.

Like the edit.
