As heard in that movie Crumb. From what I can make out of the lyrics, the "last kind word" is spoken by a father to his daughter as he prepares to leave for "The German War".

Unexpected post, Emmett. I hesitate to use the word "genius", but it deservedly applies to Robert Crumb ; I have a towering stack of old "Zap"s and assorted Crumb comix squirreled away in my airing cupboard, and various compendiums of his work winking out from my bookcase.
The movie documenting his history was something of a rare success, i think - as was the soundtrack. The Geechie Wiley
tracks are probably the best thing on it. Cool!
