Meltastic! The performance/production manages at one and the same time to be both funky and quirky enough to make me think of Harry Nilsson. Great "Blue Thumb" link, too...
One of my favorite books as a kid was "Rockin' Steady" by Walt Frazier. I read it from cover to cover more than once because "Clyde" was giving advice on how to be cool (and, as a 12-year old white boy in upstate New York, I needed some serious lessons). He covered all the important stuff: wardrobe, 'the ladies', food (I remember him saying he liked to have something light before bed, like a sandwich). This record reminds me of that book. Don't know why...maybe it's the bell-bottom pants and the leather patch jacket. And there is a certain Nilsson-ism sense of humor about it.

I confess to having owned only ONE pair of brown, two-toned platform shoes! Stylin', baby. I hear Nilsson in a lot of the new stuff these pups are playing these days. He had more influence than most people realize -- then and now.
