Grateful Dead: Scarlet Begonias>Fire On The Mountain
(recorded "live" at Barton Hall, Cornell University, May 8, 1977)

We welcome the advent of spring with this blast of orange sunshine from spring tour '77. Legend has it that Sheridan DuPre once played this for Big B, and he liked it.

I love the audience reaction when Jerry's vocals come in at 0:43.

for the faithful:

The vocals really rock!

March 20, 1977! Exactly 31 years ago to the day. Coincidence?

Good stuff. I still like that little piano riff at the end of Scarlet. Yes, we did listen to this and yes B did dig it.

Do you remember the "listening party" idea?

Glad to hear you enjoy Keith's playing, Sheridan. And Yes, I remember the listening parties all too clearly. I seem to recall that at the last one I was chastised for playing a live Beatles bootleg from '64... Good times, good times. Dan: Nice call on the 3/20/77-->3/20/08 thing. That was intentional.

Absolute classic without a doubt. I recently gave Moishe my music hard drive to add to his collection, and now he is accidentally digging the Dead.
