At first thought I thought Troubadour was an album name and the date sung was when it was released. But I don't believe that's it either. I guess the overall 'theme' is that Syd was a Shangri-La Wrecker? Any other takers? Regardless, this is as ib states 'outstanding slice of perfect pop.'

I hear him name-checking Syd but haven't totally figured what this song is about. What's it about?
Outstanding slice of perfect pop; albeit I'm as confused as Emmett.

The Troubador is a legendary club in L.A., that's probably what he's referencing... a certain gig at the Troub?
i think it's about Tobin buying a Syd record at Shangri-La records whilst he was in Mempho on tour with GBV
