Linda Perhacs - If You Were My Man (demo)

Pour yourself a Riuniti on ice and get nice to this. Available on the CD reissue of Parallelograms. See also Linda Perhacs dot com.

"Even as a tiny child, I have seen musical tones and colours as twins (and they are twins vibrationally in physics)." --Linda Perhacs

Personally, I'm getting a sort of vitreous green from the double-tracked vocals on this chorus.

been listening to her for a few years now. She's a great esoteric listen. From what Ive read she's been a dental hygienist for some years and some of her recordings were from a garage in LA's "valley-country." Great sound!

Hey, thanks for the comment Philly. Not sure when or where this particular recording is from (it's not on the original LP, and no info in the CD liner notes). Sounds a little later than 1970 to me. More Malibu Colony, less Topanga Canyon.

I like this. That biographical detail of dental hygienist is just too rich. I can't help but see this song set in a dental office, framed pictures of sailboats at sunset on the wall, all the while bridge work is being done on some poor soul perhaps, even, the longed for.

If Linda Perhacs were my hygienist, I would go to the dentist more frequently.

All my dentist has on the walls is signs warning me that some day I am going to die of plaque.

Dentistry aside (and I think we should put it so), lovely.
