5th Anniversary Spectacular!

Moons - Standard Planet

So we've been trawling through the audio archives of this standard planet for five years now. Halfway through the decade. What surprises will the next five years hold? Will I ever find another song as good as this?

Time will tell, rastas. Time will tell.

5 years! I recall the conversation over fried frog legs in New Orleans how you were going to start a music blog. I also remember Sheridan Dupre kindly expensed that meal. Thanks, fellas!

To paraphraase Big B in New Orleans:

Ain't no shame in our game!

Thanks for the comments, lads. Shall we reunite in New Orleans for our hundredth birthdays?

Congrats from the Old World too!

Here's my list of AD items - previously unknown 2 me - that - along with the Honeybus Track - made it to my personal Top 20:

'Nature Boy' (King Cole), Ruth's Mots, the Eggleston Pic from Jan, 13 th, 2009, the GD outro of 'If I had the world to give' and - most of all - the fantastic 'White Lightning' by Billy N.

Keep on trawling, dear friend. Cast your nets for 909s and castanets, for we are but the seagulls following your boat... and I am definitely gonna have to get me some more of this cough medicine.

Hey Ano, fascinating to hear your selections. Very cool to hear you dug that Grateful Dead jam... I completely agree on "White Lightning." I've often wished I'd held on to that one so it could be the last song ever posted... now that would be epic!

Speaking of Ruth, the band Ilitch posted a few days ago is made up of the same members as Ruth, before Ruth.

Johnny: great imagery; thanks for the support!

thanks much for the tunes. I remember one very hairy moment a few years back for me heading in to do an extremely difficult exam, awake at 5.30 in't morning, wife giveing me hassle and our youngest bleating. there was only one tune that could get me over the hump. No More White Horses.
Keep it rollin boys

Hey Sha-Ilm, the artist is "Honeybus" and the song is "Be Thou By My Side."

Love that Honeybus track...

That whole October Mixtape is on constant rotation at my house and is what really got me hooked on the blog - especially that damn Bob Summers Revival. Keep 'em coming!

Thanks, DC. Yeah, that October mix just happened to have a lot of good stuff in it. I wish there were 12 more Bob Summers albums out there. Reality is frustrating sometimes. Anyroad, so glad you're enjoying the music; thanks for the comment!
