New Viva show (#98) in archives.
Thanks again to all who contributed to the 1997 project. I ended up using only a handful of the picks (in truth, I had 40 of 60 minutes programmed before I asked for help!), but I listened to all and enjoyed them immensely.
Considering an all-acapella playlist. You know, Prelude: "After the Goldrush", Bobby McFerrin, Guillaume de Machaut, selections from that Bjork album, etc. Is there enough good acapella material out there to warrant such an endeavor? Let me know if you have ideas...

Acapella mix - try Les Mysteres des Voix Bulgaire...the 2 CD's comps from 4AD in the '80s are both long out of print, but worth hunting down.
Hey Wharf, thanks for the suggestion. It just so happens that my sister gave me that CD as a gift not too long ago... but I wouldn't have thought of that for this. Good call.
On a cheesier accapella choice, how about The Flying Pickets' version of Yazoo's "Only You"....
Frankly a Cappella: The Persuasions Sing Zappa is a great album.
AquariumDrunkard.com posted a while back some Beach Boys accapella versions and I used to have a Kate Bush EP, Cloudbusting, that had her singing something accapella on the backside. I can't remember what it was (maybe the tune 'Cloudbusting') and haven't been able to find the EP for years.
If you fade it at around 2'50'' or so, just before the violin comes in, you might be able to get away with this... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHstyoGkMIU
In a pinch, Caravan of Love by The Housemartins would do the trick.
Last track: "And We Bid You Goodnight" from Live/Dead.
Hi Emmett,
I really like this version of Brahms' Lullaby sung by Jennifer John. It was commissioned for the 'Of Time and the City' soundtrack. Very short, but sweet! Someone should do an edit ;-)

Glad to see the Flying Picketts on the list, and I was going to say anything by The Persuasions, but the one not on the list yet is Rebekah del Rio doing "Llorando" the Spanish language version of Roy Orbison's "Crying". It's a killer.
