Carly Simon: Nobody Does It Better [1977]

written by Carole Bayer Sager and Marvin Hamlisch
string & horns arranged & conducted by Richard Hewson

I love everything about this: The stately piano intro, the Lydian melody, the dreamy chords, the fat drums, the electro-toms, and especially the horns, strings, and vocal overdubs on the outro, all of which combine to make this the most-played song on my iPod (37 plays).

For another track from the Spy Who Loved Me soundtrack, see here.

Absolute agreement. Quite sure this was in my Top 25 before iTunes did its "oh, new version upgrade? Time to lose all the xml data then" trick.

Love how it builds from quiet to huge ala a Manilow track, but beefier. Props also to that vocal counter melody that slides through the outro.

Yes! That vocal counter-melody makes the outro!
