At some point drugs really do distort one's judgment.

What a find! Bowie's embarrassment is palpable. A true ginger collision. Has anyone heard Cher's version of 'I Walk on Guilded Splinters' by Dr. John?

"Ginger collision", ha ha. I'm of the opinion that this was tongue-in-cheek on everyone's part. It's just too weird.

Re: Walk on Guilded Splinters. Not sure I've heard it... sounds interesting. I'm guessing it's on the sort of funk album Cher did circa 1970, that also includes For What It's Worth?

I've not heard the Cher re-rub of 'For What It's Worth'. I came across '...Guilded Splinters' on the Cherrystones comp, which also ha Morricone's Svolta Definitiva.

Hot shit!

Hey Abigail, thanks for the tip/reminder. I think that Cherrystones comp is on my iPod somewhere (I'm a David Holmes fan), but I've never properly listened to it. I will now...

i second emmett, this is total camp for the sake of it... and by far, Young American's is my favorite moment in bowie's career, the tune, the album, the whole statement... brilliance.

and another thing, how many artists do you know besides bowie that have slept with mick jagger & iggy pop, lived in berline while working with Brian Eno AND performed on the Sonny & Cher Show! thats one impressive resume... (i'm guessing its the sonny and cher show)

Hey Richard, thanks for stopping by! You're right, David truly did it all! BTW I think this clip is from just "The Cher Show" -- with no Sonny. Because wasn't Cher married to Greg Allman at this point? But I could be wrong...
